5 Things Must Be Done Right When New Puppies Arrive Home!

New dogs arriving home means excitement and also challenge. No matter how old is your new dog, the first week is of great importance. Focusing on “learning to earn”, is a long-term plan, to form goods living habits. So you don’t have to rush to teach specific tactics at the very first beginning. It’s recommended that you can start off by helping your new dog to adapt to his new home, cultivate good behavior, and have fun with you - a stable life plan and consistent guidance are far more effective than correcting misbehavior.

How To Do It

01 Poop training

No matter how old your dog is, poop training is of top priority. Design your dog's living space to minimize the chances of pooping or peeing everywhere, and train them by taking them to the same place to defecate on a regular spot. Praise and reward them whenever they defecate outside. When mistakes occur, don't trap in stress and anxiety, just keep

02 Dining habits

For new dogs free-feeding may cause troubles and timed feedings are much more recommended. Feed at regular intervals, usually three times a day, keep the time, place and order consistent. In this way, your dog will adapt quickly. Initially, with some positive reinforcement and adherence to rules, your dog can be taught to wait for food in a fixed position.

03 Night sleep

It is recommended that your new dog sleep in the same space as you in the early days to promote bonding and avoid the barking habits that come with anxiety and alertness. If you choose to have your dog sleep in a crate or air box, ensure proper crate training. For puppies who use an air box overnight, it is important to help them control their food and water ahead of time and to have a bowel movement before going to bed to avoid nighttime incontinence.

04 Alone training

Staying occupied means less anxiety. You can make some preparation before you leaving home, such as putting away clothes you don't want and having stuffed toys ready. Make sure your dog is focused on toys, not on your leaving.

05 Free Range

Dogs need free range time, which should be properly directed. Define your dog's area, where there are several dog beds or cushions, and provide chew toys to guide their play. Don’t let your dog jump on furniture and reduce the chances of chewing on it with interactive toys and chew toys.
