Things happen that passers-by want to pet your dogs. How to deal with it?
01 Asked politely but you’d better refuse at the early stage of training
Some people will politely ask if they can pet your dog. Although they are nice and your dog looks cute, it is best to decline their request at early stage. During training, your dog needs to concentrate on its owner, and petting from strangers can interfere.
02 Unsolicited petting: say no!
Some people will just come up and pet your dog. This may make your dog feel uneasy or even dangerous. People should be told not to touch unfamiliar dogs without permission.
03 don't social with strange dogs
Not every dog enjoys contact with unfamiliar dogs while walking. Keep a proper distance to avoid unintentional contact. Teach your dog to stay calm and avoid excitement or anxiety when seeing other dogs.
Points:
01 do not pet your dog without permission.
02 don't get angry or frustrated if refused. Understand the owner's concerns.
03 Keep a polite distance from unfamiliar dogs. Dogs in training need to be focused and not easily disturbed.
